Campaign to recycle food containers from our pets
Most of the wet food containers of our pets are made of aluminum, a material that can be recycled indefinitely and does not lose quality in the process. In addition, with recycled aluminum any other product can be developed with identical properties to the one produced with primary or electrolytic aluminum. Therefore, Arpal has launched the campaign “Recycle the aluminum containers of our pets. ”
To give visibility to this campaign, some vignettes have developed where it is the pets themselves that invite us to recycle, in addition to an informative video and an action on social networks.
From the Association, those responsible for the feeding sector of pets, associations defending animals, veterinarians and specialized stores become protagonists of the campaign adding to the recycling of aluminum containers. “To do this, they will only have to place their logo in the vignette sent to them and disseminate the communication elements between their associates, so that they transmit the information to the greatest number of people as possible.
This campaign advances in parallel with the demands of consumers, who are increasingly aware of the care of their pets. Today, they not only demand quality products for them but also for their pets. That is why they would be willing to change brand or pay more for a product that uses a more respectful container with the planet.
Pets, one more from the family
The legislation is consistent with the demands of society, which for years requested a regulation that would consider pets as beings and not as “things.” Therefore, on August 1, the government gave the final approval to the Project for the Protection, Rights and Welfare of Animals, which will begin its processing in the Congress of Deputies. Thanks to these regulations, pets will be legally recognized as “Sentative” beings, endowed with sensitivity and not as things. The sacrifice of companion animals is prohibited, unless it is for health or eutagy reasons. In addition, the new legislation tries to fight against animal abandonment, which every year more than 300,000 pets are victims in our country, an average of 800 a day.
The data certifies that in Spain there are more than 29 million pets, according to the census study carried out by the National Association of Food Manufacturers for Company, ANFAAC and Veterindustry 2021. From the same study it follows that 40% of the families of our country share home with dogs, cats and fish, generally, but the study also includes small birds, reptiles or other mammals.
The highest percentage of our pets are dogs (more than 9 million), followed by fish (almost 7 million) and cats (about 6 million). There are currently more dogs, for example, than children under 14 years (6,627,218, INE).
From Arpal it is expected that the sector meets the campaign and can get an element as valuable as aluminum not to be thrown away, but to continue in our lives in the form of different products. Not surprisingly, 75% of the aluminum that has been manufactured for 100 years is still in use thanks to recycling.
