A mobile clinic parked under the Arch of Peace is not the scene you expect at a fitness festival. However, it is the most concrete part of MypersonalTrainer Days, the event that will occupy the monumental area of Milan on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September under the patronage of the Municipality.
Inside that clinic, managed together with LILT Milan, cancer prevention is carried out without paying anything: on Saturday breast visits and mammograms with tomosynthesis for women over 40, on Sunday visits and breast ultrasounds for women under 40. The distinction is not bureaucratic but anatomical: under 40 the breast normally has a denser glandular component, which on X-rays appears white exactly like a possible lump, while ultrasound can distinguish them better.
In another area, blood pressure is measured and a basic electrocardiogram is done, again free of charge, along with a dry eye screening. They are first level checks, not diagnoses, but they serve to intercept out-of-scale values in people who have no reason to suspect anything.
The rest of the program alternates talks and physical activity. We talk about neuroplasticity, lifestyles of the longest-lived populations, intestinal microbiota and myths to dispel about diets and supplements, with a cast that mixes doctors, nutritionists and popularizers. The outdoor lessons range from yoga to Brazilian percussion, and Carolina Kostner and Chiara Pellacani, five gold medalists at the latest European diving championships, also appear on stage. Or Martina Colombari who will talk about her method for training body, mind and will, starting from her book “The change is you” (out for Sperling&Kupfer on 22 September).
Everything is free, but registration is mandatory and places are limited: the complete program and reservations are on the event website. MypersonalTrainer is part of the Mondadori Group like Evidence Network.
