It is not the first time that we realize we are late on the objectives of Sustainable development of the 2030 Agenda: Even before the pandemic there was talk of a 43 -year delay on the roadmap, and Covid only made things worse. Several times we wondered if it was not the case to see them taking into account the new events that have shocked our history – come on climate changeto the different conflicts burst into the world, toAscends of authoritarian governments: now a study published on Plos One It remarks the importance of a revision, claiming that at this rate no country will be able to respect the commitment made and achieve the 17 objectives by 2030.
Ties between objectives. Signed in 2015 by the 193 Member countries of the United Nations in the context of Agenda 2030, i 17 Sustainable development objectives they aim to reach “Peace and prosperity for all people and the planet” – Peace and prosperity that, it seems, would be quite distant.
According to the analysis, complex ties between the various objectives would exist, and while some would act synergistically, others would be in conflict with each other. The objectives concerning climatic action and sustainable consumption and production, for example, would be supported to each other but would have a negative correlation with the other 15; On the contrary, the zero poverty goal would be in tune with all the others.
At different pace. Although nobody is on the right way to achieve the goals in time, if grouped on the basis of geographical, cultural and socio -economic factors The different countries are progressing at different rhythms: Africa and Asia, for example (which have the lowest GDP) are far from achieving objectives such as zero povertygender equality and good level of well -being and health, but I am well at the same time as regards climatic and consumption and responsible production objectives.
On the basis of the results, the authors hope “immediate actions” to review the 17 objectives taking into account the complex connections between them and the diversity between the regions of the world.
