Those who have cheated in the past are 3 times more likely to do it again. This is how the patterns of couple infidelity repeat themselves.
It’s not a cliché: a study by the University of Denver (USA), analyzing the behavior of almost 500 people, observed that serial cheaters are a reality.
Serial cheaters really exist
Those who have cheated are three times more likely to do it again: the past matters because the behavior patterns tend to be repeated, in the same or even different, subsequent relationships.
In the study sample, infidelity affected 40% of couples, without a gender difference between betrayed and betrayed: women and men do it in the same way, if they find themselves in the right conditions.
Behavioral patterns and the possibility of changing them
Not only that: even those who have been betrayed are two to four times more likely to be betrayed again. Psychologists, however, underline that behavioral patterns can be broken and that betrayal is not an inevitable fate.
If you have been betrayed in the past, it is always possible to do something (such as learning to recognize the signs of “traitors”) to avoid finding yourself in the same situation.
