We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the organization over the past decade including our dedicated researchers, newspaper editors, readers and funders. Health care is only one element of what can make a significant difference in health outcomes, with social factors, such as education or affordable housing or a safe working environment, playing a much more significant role in determining whether we will be healthy or ill.

As health equity researchers, it’s part of our job to measure the relationship between social conditions and health outcomes. Often, we try and link one social condition, like income, to one health outcome, like diabetes, low birth weight or mental illness — the list goes on.
