The prophecy that self -virginates: what it is and how to avoid it

By Dr. Kyle Muller

With Jupiter in the sign, encounters and new knowledge are favored …
In January, promotions and success in work is coming … “

It happens to everyone to read the horoscope of their zodiac sign and also happens to find confirmation of what is read. But is it really possible to predict the future?

No, of course. Providing the future is not possible, but it is possible to make forecasts that can change my behavior and make an event to come more likely.

For example, if a person reads (and believes) to the forecast of the horoscope that claims that new meetings will take place, he will tend to have a more positive and open attitude towards others. For example, it will be more smiling, more available to listen, perhaps it will commit more to the care of its appearance and all these factors will surely make it more attractive and predisposed to new meetings.

In the same way, knowing that January is a favorite month for the work, could push the person to finally ask for the increase or promotion that he had no courage to ask. This certainly makes the possibility of obtaining it more concrete (compared to not asking for it at all).

What does the prophecy that self -brought consists of?

The mechanism is as follows: I listen to a prediction that comes from a source in which I put confidence, I welcome it as true and start to feed on the expectations that push me to concrete actions that will generate real effects.

In fact Power is found only in the hands of those who listen to the “prophecy” and takes it for true and not in those who produce it!

The prophecy that carries out or Pigmalione effect is a phenomenon very studied in psychology and describes as positive prophecies, they produce positive results.

In a very famous experiment conducted by Rosenthal in 1964 in an American elementary school, all pupils underwent an intelligence test to evaluate their intellectual quotient. A list of smarter pupils was later communicated to the teachers, however, asking them to keep it hidden and not to change the attitude towards these children in any way. In reality, the list they had received was a list of selected children at random and not the smarter children.

After a year, Rosenthal discovered that the pupils who were on the list of “most gifted”, had a much higher intellectual quotient for companions. The teachers, believing in prophecy, had in fact created certain expectations that changed their behaviors (they were more benevolent, encouraging, have transmitted confidence …) and consequently those of the pupils.

Why is it useful to know the phenomenon of the prophecy that self -virgin?

The prophecy that self -evident is a phenomenon very present in our daily lives.

As we said previously, the true power lies in “Who“Listen to the prophecy and not in those who do it. It is important to know that having a positive attitude has the power to mobilize our resources and encourage access to our full potential.

When we manage to stay in this mode, the difficulties we encounter become opportunities to use our skills and performances, moments when we access our resources.

How can I manage to maintain a positive attitude?

First of all we try to pay more attention to the words we use both with others and ourselves: “I will never be able to do it“For example, it can be replaced with a more encouraging”I can succeed“!”

People who suffer from depression or anxiety disorders are as if they were caged by a “negative prophecy“Which often ends up not activating the resources that the person really owns.

In these cases, contacting a psychotherapist can be the best strategy to be helped to get out of the “mental prison” and reactivate their resources.
